Hino diesel engines are the reliable workhorses of the boating world, and nobody knows them better than Earl. He is much in demand across the USA by Hino owners who count on Earl to keep their yachts performing to perfection.
A native of Niles, Michigan, Earl has spent a life time around engines. As a high school student he traveled the country competing in flat track motorcycle racing, then attended Lincoln Tech to earn his certification in diesel truck technology.
What followed were stints working on Detroit diesels for industry leaders such as International Truck, Freightliner and Caterpillar where he mastered his craft and continued his education through advanced training on diesel engine technologies.
It was his move to California in 1979 that led his career to take a turn from land to sea when he accepted a job in Huntington Beach at the second largest Hino dealership in the USA.
While Hino had long been a very respected name in Japan for their durable, efficient diesel engines, they were new to America at that time. Earl was chosen to receive extensive training directly from Hino's Japanese staff and was soon regarded as the local Hino expert.
Hino's reputation for durability and reliability led Bayliner to chose Hino diesels to power their new line of large yachts introduced in the mid-1980's and soon there was a strong demand from Bayliner owners wanting knowledgeable yacht maintenance and repair services.
Earl answered the demand by forming his own company specializing in these large Bayliners and quickly developed a loyal national following.
Today Earl and his wife Jolene are based in Florida but head out in their RV "SummerVilla" every Springtime to travel to marinas across America. Earl also provides virtual survey services to Bayliner owners and potential owners advising them on mechanical condition and issues associated with Hino engines. He is also a regular contributor to the very popular online forum, Bayliner Owners Club.
